Upon arrival at Secure Medical
Care, please inform the receptionist that you are here for a company
breath alcohol test (also known as an "evidential breath test"). The
receptionist will ask for the name of your company and ask you to complete
an information form and a breath alcohol test release form.
You will not need to see a physician during your procedure. As a
consequence, there may be patients called before you from the waiting room
if they are there to see the physician. A clinician will escort you into
an examining room. At that time you will be asked to show the clinician a
photo ID, such as your drivers' license.
The clinician will explain the test to you, and both of you will complete
a form. The clinician will then open an individually sealed mouthpiece and
attach it to a breath alcohol testing device. You will be asked to blow
forcefully into the mouthpiece for at least 6 seconds, or until the device
indicates that an adequate amount of breath has been obtained for
analysis.
If the results are negative, you will be given a copy of your form, and
you may then leave without stopping again at the receptionists' desk. If
the results of the test are positive (a value of 0.02 mg % or greater),
you will be required to take a confirmation test. The confirmation test
will be done approximately 20 minutes after the first test.
During this 20-minute wait period, you may not leave the examination room,
and the clinician will remain in the room with you; you may not eat,
drink, or chew gum during this time. You will then repeat the test. If the
result of the second test is negative, you may leave. If the result is
again positive, you will be escorted from the office by a designated
person from your company - you may not leave alone.
This procedure requires 45-60 minutes time. Please arrive no later than 7
PM on weekdays and 5 PM on weekends and holidays. This will allow
sufficient time to complete the process before closing time, which is 8:00
PM on weekdays and 6:00 PM on weekends and holidays.
If you have any questions during any part of the procedure, please do not
hesitate to ask.
