Breath Alcohol Testing
Breath alcohol testing is a non-invasive way for you to mitigate risk and insure workplace safety and productivity by evaluating any habits that may endanger your employees. Information for Employees
Here’s what you can expect during your breath alcohol test: This procedure requires 45-60 minutes. Please arrive no later than 7:00 pm on weekdays and 5:00 pm on weekends and holidays to allow sufficient time to complete the process before the clinic closes (which is 8:00 pm on weekdays and 6:00 pm on weekends and holidays). When you arrive, please inform the receptionist that you are here for a company breath alcohol test (also known as an "evidential breath test"). You will need to provide the name of your company and to complete an information form and a breath alcohol test release form. You will not need to see a physician during your procedure (as a consequence, there may be patients called before you, who are there to see a physician). A clinician will escort you into an exam room. At that time you will be asked to show the clinician a photo ID, such as your drivers' license. The clinician will then open an individually sealed mouthpiece and attach it to a breath alcohol testing device. You will be asked to blow forcefully into the mouthpiece for at least 6 seconds, or until the device indicates that an adequate amount of breath has been obtained for analysis. If the results of the test are negative, you will be given a copy of your form, and you may then leave without stopping again at the reception desk. If the results are positive (a value of 0.02% or greater), you will be required to take a second, confirmation test. The confirmation test will be done approximately 20 minutes after the first test. During this 20-minute wait period, you may not leave the examination room, and the clinician will remain in the room with you; you may not eat, drink, or chew gum during this time. You will then repeat the test. If the result of the second test is negative, you may leave. If the result is again positive, you will be escorted from our office by a designated person from your company - you will not be allowed to leave alone. If you have any questions during any part of the procedure, please do not hesitate to ask.
